About Us

A.C. Legg, Inc. has enjoyed over 87 years of success in the spice and food business. We are located at 6330 Highway 31 South, Calera, Alabama.  We moved to a new 131,500 square foot facility in 2001 and we employ over 130 people.  Our success has been built on the four ideals of “Quality, Consistency, Service, and Quick Response.” The company was founded on these ideals in 1923 and they continue to be an integral part of our survival and continued growth

INCOMING INGREDIENTS

The procurement of ingredients is handled by the highest level of management of A. C. Legg, Inc. Spice specifications meet or exceed the standards of the American Spice Trade Association.  Spices are contracted to maintain our rigid specifications and to assure that blends remain consistent throughout the year.

HACCP

A.C. Legg, Inc. currently operates under a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point system (HACCP) to assure the food safety of our products. It is monitored by administrative personnel and outside consultants.

MANUFACTURING AND BLENDING

All orders are reviewed by the Customer Service Department and the Director of Plant Operations to insure accuracy, consistency, proper packaging and packing for shipping. Each department (ingredients, blending, packaging, and shipping) has supervisors that constantly monitor and recheck mixing, blending, and packaging to insure quality and consistency.

We continue to invest back into the company through software upgrades and equipment purchases. In 2006 we invested in new lot tracking software that we felt was necessary amid the current landscape of the food industry. We believe in the highest standard of food safety and this new software allows us to issue a recall in a matter of minutes.

All custom blends are handled with confidentiality and considered proprietary information. All orders are accompanied with letters of guaranty and pure food declarations. Percentage breakdowns are available upon request.

SHIPPING

All orders are given a final inspection prior to being shipped. This includes blend name, date manufactured, lot number, and shipping materials (bill of lading, labels, etc.).
