It’s National Taco Day. The guacamole is made, the onion are diced, the lettuce is shredded, and we are ready for taco! We take tacos very seriously at A.C. Legg. Our resident chef has some good tips for making sure your National Taco Day is as delicious as it sounds.
According to our chef, if you have a ground meat in your freezer that you aren’t quite sure what to do with, try it with our Blend 124, Taco seasoning. Venison or deer meat is going to give your tacos a gamy flavor. The fat ratio on your ground beef will also play a part in the flavor of your tacos. Our chef recommends using a beef with some fat but not an outrageous amount, he prefers a 85/15 ratio for his taco meat. Pork will lend a leaner and more neutral flavor to your tacos, allowing the seasoning to be the star of the show. If you are going to use ground poultry beware that it will dry out quicker giving your tacos a drier texture faster. Whatever protein you choose, be sure to cook to 165F.
Our Taco seasoning, Blend 124, filled with cumin and chili pepper has just the right amount of heat for the entire family. However, if you want to spice up your tacos add some cayenne pepper to your meat mixture while cooking for an added kick. For a family size National Taco Day utilize 1.5 TBSP per one pound of ground meat for a flavorful dinner.
