Mr. Charles W. Purvis

If you’ve ever looked at our website or done some research into A.C. Legg, Inc. you’ll recognize this last name as it’s been with our company for many years on our #Journeyto100. In 1936, at the age of 21, Charles W. Purvis would be hired by A.C. Legg, Inc. as an office employee. Through the years Mr. Purvis would prove his worth as a savvy business mind becoming the General Manager, Secretary and partial owner of the company. In 1979 when the estate of Mrs. Elizabeth Blanchard was settled Mr. Charles W. Purvis would hold the controlling interest of A.C. Legg, Inc. and the title of the 6th President as Mrs. Blanchard had planned.

Mr. Purvis’ philosophy was “Education is something once attained cannot be taken away”. During his time as President of A.C. Legg, Inc he would promote the company’s association with meat science programs at numerous colleges and universities. Over the next 9 years Mr. Purvis would see the vision he and his mentors shared come to fruition as A.C. Legg, Inc would continue to prosper, and the facilities upgrade and grow. His passing in 1988 saw the end of a great generation of visionaries who worked together to build a legacy we can all be proud of.
